Vijayawada! 21st December, The General Body Meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Amateur Boxing Association, affiliated with the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF), was successfully held on Sunday at Hotel Novotel, Vijayawada. The meeting witnessed in-depth discussions on the overall development of boxing in the state, player training systems, strengthening district-level structures, and future strategic planning.
 
The meeting was graced by the presence of Dr. Rakesh Mishra, National President of the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation, and Mr. Rakesh Thakran, Secretary General, IABF, as special guests. Both officials arrived in Vijayawada on Saturday evening and, following the meeting, spent the entire Sunday at Hotel Novotel interacting with state boxing officials, players, and district association representatives.
 
Commencing his address, Dr. Rakesh Mishra greeted the gathering in the Telugu language and stated:
 
“ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ బాక్సింగ్‌కు గొప్ప చరిత్ర ఉంది, ఇక్కడి క్రీడాకారులు దేశానికి గర్వకారణం.”
(“Andhra Pradesh boxing has a glorious history, and the athletes from this state are a source of pride for the nation.”)
 
Dr. Mishra emphasized that Andhra Pradesh has always made a significant contribution to India’s national boxing landscape. The state has produced numerous athletes and coaches who have brought honor to both the state and the country through their discipline, dedication, and hard work. He highlighted the contributions of Dronacharya Awardee Shri I.V. Rao, Arjuna Awardee Shri S. Jayaram, World Champion and Jnanpith Award recipient Mrs. N. Usha, international boxer Shri H. Srinivas, and Asian bronze medalist Mrs. Kavita, describing their achievements as golden chapters in the history of Andhra Pradesh boxing.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Rakesh Thakran, Secretary General, IABF, congratulated all the distinguished personalities and extended his best wishes for their continued success. He expressed confidence that their experience and guidance would inspire the next generation of boxers to achieve new milestones at national and international levels. He reaffirmed that the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation would extend full support for the comprehensive development of boxing in Andhra Pradesh.

On this occasion, a large number of local media representatives, senior sports journalists, social workers, and sports enthusiasts were present and engaged in positive discussions with national officials regarding the future of boxing in the state.
 
Shri Kalyan Bangaru Raju, Secretary General of the Andhra Pradesh Amateur Boxing Association, stated that enthusiasm for boxing among youth across all districts of the state is steadily increasing. He expressed confidence that under the guidance of national leadership, Andhra Pradesh boxing will produce many more international-level athletes in the coming years.
